Just last week I got a ‘Save the Date’ in the mail and was reminded that wedding season is nearly upon us. Depending on your level of involvement, this can be a huge undertaking. But in terms of looking our best, following a simple plan that works for your needs, makes the beauty/skincare side of preparation super fun!
For those of you who are the bride (congrats!), in the bridal party, or just want to show up looking your best, here are three different approaches to getting that magical glow on this most special of days, as recommended by our medical estheticians here at 3000BC WellMed Spa:
1. For the Pretty Princesses- those of us who want an indulgence and special glow for the big day!
~5-7 days prior to the wedding day, go in for a facial (request Microderm!) that will clean out your pores (including extractions, if needed), exfoliate dead skins cells, and provide relaxation to relieve the big day jitters.
2. Regular Royalty- us gals who like to treat our skin regularly, but don’t need/want to wage an all-out war leading up wedding time.
~Every 6-8 weeks (at least 3-4 for months prior to the big day), get a Microdermabrasion facial (if it’s the service that is best for your skin type). It will keep your skin cleaned out, your pores tight, and help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
~Develop an at-home skin care regimen with your esthetician that will support the great progress you are making with their services.
3. The Bad$%ss Beauty Queens- we know who we are…the ladies who will go to the ends of the earth to put our best face forward for the big day!
~I’ll say it again and again…Peels, peels, peels, peels.
~Every 4-6 weeks (at LEAST 4-6 months leading up to the wedding day) get a medical peel done. Peels exfoliate your skin in ways that no over the counter product can…truly a transformative service! Done regularly, they can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, significantly reduce acne and acne scarring, and give you a glow that will outshine every other wedding guest.
~Strictly follow your at-home skin care regimen, every piece of the puzzle matters, so no slipping!
~5-7 days prior to the wedding, have a lactic peel done. This is one of the lightest grades of peels available, so it minimizes down time (dry, peeling skin) but still gives your skin the radiant glow you have been striving for! And if you prefer to switch to a facial before the big day, again, ask for Microdermabrasion, you will really see a difference!
Whatever plan works for you, remember to always follow it under the care of an esthetician or dermatologist.
